Description
Through our extensive research on drums and drum sounds over the last 30+ years, we have realized some advancements in shell design that have improved the sound and projection of pipe band drums.
One improvement in particular is with the shape, depth and general quality of the bearing edge and snare bed cut and how it affects the pitch and clarity of the drum. It’s long been a discussion of discerning drummers in other styles of drumming that wood material, thickness, depth and bearing edge design all factor into a drum’s unique projection and tone.
At CDS Inc. we can take most models of new or used stock pipe band drum shells and cut a sharper, more precise bearing edge and snare bed into the shell to help improve pitch, projection and clarity. In addition, all of our custom built snare drum shells include these superior modifications to the drum shell as standard.
